许多人要面对 必须讨好谁 人际是与非
面子往那里给 免强的奉陪 刻意成虚伪

貓王死的那一年﹐自己是在新加坡工作﹐聽到他暴斃的消息﹐先感到震驚﹐后感到傷心﹐才猛然醒覺﹐他的死對我們這些聽他的歌成長者來說﹐是一個集體的青春夢消逝感覺……
因為在我們的青春期﹐艾維斯皮禮士利不只是一個歌星﹐還是一種風尚﹐他的歌曲音樂雖然說是解放了當時美國禁錮保守的心﹐但就是在身處在較純樸較保守的我國﹐也起了一樣的效果﹐他的唱法、髮型、誇張而又性感的扭腰、擺臀颱風在當時都是反抗精神的象征。
他的叛逆形像﹐取得年輕一代的共鳴﹐故其穿著及風采也成為流行時尚﹐試問那個時代自以為能追得上潮流者﹐那個不梳“飛機頭”？有誰不穿狹窄的褲﹖不把衣領翻高﹖而在褲子的背后的袋子插著一把梳子﹖
影響中文歌壇
在某種程度上﹐受貓王所影響的衣飾﹐就是當年衛道之士們所稱的“飛仔裝”﹐是叛逆的﹐是危險的﹐良家少女最好避而遠之﹐大家可記得在香港的粵語文藝愛情殘片中﹐那個想橫刀奪愛而又心懷不軌的反派角色﹐必以這種形像出現﹗
但從認真而又深一層角度來看﹐貓王當年是以個人的魅力領導了一場叛逆傳統的革命，開創了20世紀狂飆突進的搖滾文化﹐導使到年輕人和父母在聽歌的口味和趨勢正式“決裂”。
記得貓王早期的搖滾名曲如《That’s All Right, Houng Dog》, 《Jailhouse Rock》, 《Blue Suede
Shoes》等﹐也被那些所謂的嚴肅音樂人譏為只是吶喊﹐咬詞不清﹐不知道在唱什么﹖
其實那種“錯覺”﹐是因為對西方流行音樂革命的后知后覺﹐而還停留在抒情傷感的情歌環境裡﹐而聽華語歌曲者特別感到難接受﹐這種態度上的偏差﹐使到很多人對早期的貓王沒有客觀的評語﹐也忽略了他那巨大的影響及貢獻﹐回想起來﹐對這位劃時代歌星未免有欠公平。
不過貓王風靡全球后﹐就是對中文歌壇也有一定的影響﹐只是這種現象被很多人忽略了而已。
